WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- People from all over the Cape Fear region gathered in downtown Wilmington today to check out Rims on the River Car and Motorcycle Show.
There are different types of car shows and displays lined along Water and Front Street throughout the weekend. There are hot rods, British and old American cars, and more.
Some people say they have been working on their vehicles for years to get them show ready. One contestant says it feels special to be a part of Rims on the River.
"Oh it's pretty cool. All the effort and everything you put into it makes it come together and people appreciate your work and that's always a good thing," George Nixon a Rims on the River contestant says.
"It's a wonderful feeling. You become proud of your possessions and the hard work you've put into it. It's nice to know that other people like it," Bill Massey a Rims on the River contestant says.
One contestant says he does not care about winning just being there is enough.
"But it's the fun of being here with all of the people displaying these beautiful cars and being with our car club. We're with the British Motor Club of Cape Fear and it's just a fun thing to do," Bill Massey says.
People say they look forward to Rims on the River each year.
One contestant Bill Massey says there were about 250 cars at Rims on the River today, possibly more.
